Rooted Community is a Jesus loving, community focused, para-church ministry in Paulding Ohio. We are committed to magnifying the person and work of Jesus and living out the Gospel through presence-centered worship gatherings, fellowship and bible study around the Table, equipping and empowering individuals through discipleship training, life on life evangelism and outreach events. Our heart is for Unity in the Body of Christ and loving a lost a dying world!

Rooted & Grounded

Who are we?

History

Rooted Community was a whisper from the Lord in our hearts back in 2020 when God led us to buy a building and start a market-place ministry we call Grounded Coffee & Crumbs in our home town of Paulding Ohio! After a couple of years of hosting pop-up worship nights and other community events we officially launched Rooted Community in January of 2024! Throughout that year we hosted a monthly gathering focusing on vertical worship, prayer and intercession for our local community. In 2025 we doubled down on local ministry with a heart to rally around The Gospel for personal and communal transformation! Rooted Community and Grounded Coffee & Crumbs derive their names from Ephesians 3:17 “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,”. This passage of scripture is core to who we are and is the heart behind all that we do! As a young para-church ministry we are still workshopping our vision and mission. We feel very passionate and called to relational evangelism, discipleship of believers young and old unto becoming a company of bold evangelists to reach the lost in our community! We are also committed to unity in the Body of Christ, gathering cross denominationally to looking at the Man Christ Jesus, growing as born-again children of our Heavenly Father and walking in the Spirit!

Mission

So what does ministry look like practically? The three main areas of ministry that we have stepped into in this season can be summed up in three words; 

WELLS, TABLES & ALTARS. 

WELLS: Grounded Coffee & Crumbs is our well! Grounded is a marketplace ministry where we have been able to meet so many people in our community and practice evangelism through the practical demonstration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through loving service, radical generosity and cultivating an atmosphere of peace and belonging. Our heart for Grounded is much deeper than selling coffee and crumbs, it's about taking people from a transaction to a table. We have had many love, power and truth encounters with lost and broken souls. We have offered prayer, led people to Jesus and have seen the power of God in healing and transformation! Not only has Grounded been an important place to reach the lost but also a place to meet many Christian brothers and sisters from all expressions and experiences. We believe Grounded plays a major role in our community for reaching the lost and unity in the Body of Christ! 

TABLES: Tables represent simple small group gatherings and discipleship. Both Ashley and I have engaged in many intentional discipleship relationships as well as together walking alongside couples and families. Since February we have hosted what we call ‘The Table’ every Monday night where we practice Gospel fellowship and Spirit led Bible Study! We are currently in a study through the book of Hebrews! In addition to Rooted Community, Mitch chairs a non-profit organization called Power2Change which is an evangelistic ministry that hosts Gospel-centered small groups with individuals coming out of incarceration, alcohol and drug addiction. We have seen God move in so many powerful ways to save, heal and deliver as we consistently and faithfully have Gospel conversations and invite people into a relationship with Jesus! We see Tables as a huge part of our ministry to equip the saints with the power of Gospel in them and through them for evangelization of the lost and revival in our community! 

ALTARS: Throughout the Bible altars were a place of worship! We have labored for years to establish an altar in Paulding. Since the coffee shop opened in 2021, we have hosted many nights of worship and in January 2024, when we officially started Rooted Community, we felt led to create some consistency and host our Rooted Nights monthly. Rooted Nights have been small, intimate, worship gatherings at the coffee shop where we have been diligent to practice fellowship, presence-centered praise and worship, the proclamation of The Gospel and participation in the Lord's Supper. We are actively seeking the Lord for clarity and direction on how, as para-church ministry, we can come along the local Church and the Body of Christ in Paulding (our Jerusalem) NW Ohio (our Judea) and the Midwest Region (our Samaria). A place of encounter through prayer and worship, the preaching/teaching of the Gospel and training up believers in evangelism is still huge in our hearts and we desire to step further into these areas as a true para-church expression as we head into the new year!
